The unmissable GeneXus presentations at Globant Converge
Watch all the GeneXus talks from Globant Converge and see firsthand how to modernize systems, scale AI and more.
On June 30, 2025, GeneXus Next
released a new iteration with a special focus on the backend, moving closer to the official launch set for the third quarter of this year.
GeneXus Next
is much more than a Low-Code evolution: it’s GeneXus’s answer to the challenges brought by the new era of enterprise software. The challenge is no longer just about programming faster or deploying across multiple platforms. Now, the real transformation lies in modeling agentic solutions, where intelligent collaboration between people and software redefines how complex, dynamic, and future-ready systems are created – that’s the GeneXus guarantee.
In a conversation with
Armin Bachmann
, Product Manager at GeneXus, we reviewed what can already be explored as part of the public beta.
What is GeneXus Next?
GeneXus Next is the new edition of GeneXus. This Low-Code platform allows you to model Native Agentic Development for Mission-Critical Systems and generate them automatically by combining Generative Artificial Intelligence with Symbolic AI.
Imagine having a team of experts by your side: each one masters a specific area of development (APIs, business logic, data modeling, and so on). Now, imagine they’re not people, but Artificial Intelligence agents. These agents are intelligent components that understand your instructions in natural language and collaborate with each other under the coordination of an “architect,” tackling tasks as if they were a true team of specialists.
GeneXus Next incorporates this set of agent-assistants under the name Nexa, working synergistically to accelerate development. As Armin explains:
“Developers can ask Nexa to create an API, and Nexa coordinates its internal agents so each one handles their part: one models the API, another creates procedures, another takes care of data providers, another manages data structures… and so they collaborate according to their specialty, like an orchestrated team,” Armin explains.
These advances take Low-Code to a new dimension: lowering the learning curve, speeding up onboarding of new project members, and allowing developers to delegate complex activities to autonomous agents before finally deciding on the changes to incorporate into the model.
GeneXus Next is designed for native agentic development of Mission-Critical Systems for this era. The generated backend becomes an environment where agents live, collaborate, execute tasks, and are part of the business logic of a mission-critical solution. Agents can automate tasks, categorize data, understand documents or images, generate and expand texts, among other capabilities.
The use cases that systems can cover expand dramatically, since everything related to document and general text manipulation is greatly simplified.

Workflow is also entering a new phase. It’s now possible to incorporate agents into flows, trigger tasks according to dynamic rules, and design solutions that automatically adapt to context changes, without the need to reprogram.
This is an evolution from classic BPM to
Agentic Workflow
.
“In GeneXus Next, it’s already possible to model and generate intelligent agents directly in the Knowledge Base. Once defined, these agents become integrated into the environment and can be part of business processes and workflows.”
In addition to the special focus we’ve placed on Nexa and supporting the construction of agentic backends, we’ve also continued to enhance traditional GeneXus capabilities. So, not only can you build backends, but the beta versions of the iOS, Android, and Angular generators are also being introduced, allowing you to generate web applications, mobile apps, super apps, and mini apps. For teamwork, GXserver has been updated to GeneXus Next. Even our partners have released beta versions of their patterns and extensions.
Any GeneXus user can try GeneXus Next by registering as a Beta Tester. It works on Mac, Windows, and Linux, allowing you to download and run it locally, like any professional tool.
Access is available from the Download Center. For all this, we recommend visiting the wiki and consulting the
instructions to install and run GeneXus Next
.
With GeneXus Next, you no longer write code. With GeneXus Next, you design systems, orchestrate agents, and build software with AI using natural language.
“GeneXus Next is no longer a concept or a promise. It’s an active, living, and evolving platform. And it’s already available to build agentic software. Users of GeneXus 18 and previous versions will find a more natural, flexible environment – one that is much more aligned with the future of development,” Armin adds.
